Questions About Therapy

It is completely natural to have questions before starting therapy. Taking the first step towards change is an important decision, and it is reasonable to want to understand more about how therapy works and what you can expect.

You don't need to know exactly which approach is right for you before making contact. We can discuss your situation, what you would like to change and whether my approach is appropriate for you.

A free introductory conversation gives you the opportunity to ask questions and decide whether you feel comfortable working with me.

There is no pressure, just a conversation.

Understanding Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention that we all experience in everyday life. You may recognise it as the feeling of becoming absorbed in a book, film, music or even your thoughts while becoming less aware of what is happening around you.

It is not a state of being unconscious or under someone else's control. You remain aware of what is happening and can choose to respond or stop at any time.

Some people worry that they might get "stuck" in hypnosis. You cannot. You naturally move in and out of focused states throughout the day.

Hypnosis can be used therapeutically to help you become more aware of your thoughts, feelings and automatic patterns, and to create new ways of responding.

Your safety and wellbeing are always my priority. My approach is gentle, collaborative and tailored to you.

Starting Your Journey

How many sessions will I need?
Every person is different. Some issues can be resolved in just a few sessions, while others may take longer. We'll discuss this together during your free introductory call, so you have a clear idea from the start.

What happens during the first session?
We'll talk about what you'd like to change and your goals for therapy. I'll explain how the process works and answer any questions you may have. If you feel comfortable, we may begin working together in that first session.

Do you offer online sessions?
Yes. Online sessions are available via a secure, private video service. They can be just as effective as in-person sessions for many issues. I also see clients face-to-face in North Norfolk.

Is everything we discuss private and confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is fundamental to my practice. You can feel safe to talk openly about whatever is important to you.

Still have a question?
If you can't find the answer you're looking for, or you'd simply like to talk things through, you're welcome to arrange a free introductory conversation.
