Public Talk
Why We Get Stuck and How to Break Free

Tuesday 1 September

About James

For over 40 years I have helped people understand why they think, feel and behave the way they do, and how lasting positive change is possible.

As a clinical hypnotherapist and speaker, I have worked with people from all walks of life, helping them overcome anxiety, fears, unwanted habits and low confidence.

My talks are practical, engaging and designed for everyday audiences rather than psychology professionals. Using real-life examples, humour and audience participation, I explain psychological ideas in a way that is easy to understand and immediately useful.

Whether speaking to a U3A, WI, Rotary, Lions, Probus or community group, my aim is simple: to leave audiences with fresh ideas they can use straight away and an enjoyable experience they will remember.

Questions and discussion are always encouraged, and every talk can be tailored to suit your audience.

Available Talks

Engaging, practical and thought-provoking talks that help audiences understand the mind and create lasting positive change.

1. Why We Get Stuck and How to Break Free.
Understand why we repeat unhelpful patterns and how lasting change becomes easier once we understand how the mind works.

2. Breaking Bad Habits: Why They’re So Hard to Change.
Discover why habits form, why willpower alone rarely works, and practical ways to make change achievable.

3. The Truth About Hypnosis: Separating Fact from Fiction.
An entertaining look at hypnotherapy, answering common questions, dispelling myths and explaining what it really involves.

4. Why Willpower Doesn’t Work (and What Does)
Find out why motivation fades and what actually helps create lasting change.

Talks typically last 45–60 minutes, including questions, and can be adapted to suit your group’s interests.
